By Matthew Watts

Losing weight is normally associated with not eating very much and being constantly hungry constantly, which is why so many people are so loathed to get it done and if they are doing give it a go, understandably many of them fail.

The trick is not to assume that to lose weight you will need to starve and stay hungry. You do not actually have to consume less food to lose weight but more change what sort of food you're eating.

When you eat once you feel hungry, it will reduce the users hunger more between meals.

So if you're literally purging, starvation it's likely you'll find yourself putting on body fat. It is much better to eat consistently but smaller amounts, by way of example 5-6 small meals a day as opposed to 3 huge meals.

The secret's not to wait too much time between meals to ensure that there is no temptation to snack that will undo all your hard work.

Many people snack since they're hungry; they haven't eaten enough and have not eaten anything so before lunchtime they experience the snacking.

Never skip breakfast, this will likely mean you are going to eat a large lunch and also by skipping meals, your body's metabolism slows and does the opposite of whatever you expect and keeps the calories rather than burning them off.

Eating little and sometimes is also best for people who get a slump in the afternoon where they feel very lethargic, it's because a drop in sugar levels because of not eating enough.

Eating small meals or you need to snacks between meals will stabilise your blood sugar levels and ensure you aren't getting that uncontrollable tiredness during the afternoon so that you won't be grabbing the energy drink or naughty food for a boost of your energy.

Eating slower is a second way to make sure you don't over indulge however, you eat enough to feel satisfied.

It takes about 20 minutes to the body to grasp it is full if you eat prematurely, the body will need longer to realise it is full up and obviously by that time you've got eaten too much and it is too far gone.

So by consuming less quickly, the mind will send signals you will want to stop eating just in time.

So as you can view, there really isn't any need to be hungry to lose weight; you're much more likely to keep the weight if you eat sensibly and often. Eating less food can be detrimental to weight loss not to mention your health.

A varied, balanced diet coupled with exercise plus a bit of determination and willpower will ensure that you lose weight.
